Hypothyroidism is treated with the levorotatory forms of thyroxine (L-T4) and triiodothyronine (L-T3). Both synthetic and animal-derived thyroid tablets are available and can be prescribed for patients in need of additional thyroid hormone replacement. Thyroid hormone is taken daily, and doctors can monitor blood levels to help assure proper dosing.

Medicines used Western Medication:

There is not med can cure hypothyroidism so far under Western Medication. Since most of patients already get destruction in their thyroid gland. There is not med can make patient to re-born a new thyroid gland. So Western Doctor suggests patients taking thyroid hormone replacement.

There are two kinds of thyroid hormone replacements in market:

1. Natural Thyroid derived from the gland of animals: Included Armour Thyroid.

2. Chemical Synthesis: Included Cytomel, Levothroid, Levoxyl, Nature-throid, Synthroid, Thyrogen, Thyrolar and Unithroid.

3. These hormone replacements can’t 100% fit patients need! Only few of patients feel comfortable after taking such hormone replacement! Most of patients still get hypothyroid symptoms such as feel cold easily!

Main function of thyroid hormone replacement.

（1） To maintain the development of body: Its main content are T3 and T4, these are key factor for body development. Child may get cretinism and shorter size and adult may get grume edema if lack of thyroid hormone.

（2） Speed up Metabolism in body: Thyroxine can speed up the oxidization in cells, speed up the metabolism and produce more heat.
