Hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid) is a condition in which your thyroid gland doesn't produce enough of certain important thyroid hormones. It can cause all metabolism slower down in your body and cause a number of health problems, such as obesity, joint pain, feel cold easily, poor memory, slower reaction, infertility and heart disease.

Testing the TSH, T3 and T4 levels is a direct method to know whether you get hypothyroidism. Typical adult limits for these hormones are:

TSH: 0.45 - 4.50 uIU/mL
FT3 2.5 – 6.0 pmol/L
FT4: 9 – 19 pmol/L
TT3: 1.2 – 3.2 nmol/L
TT4: 65 – 155 nmol/L

T4 : 0.82 - 1.77 ng/dl;
T3 : 71 - 180 ng/dl.
