For the last year I have been extremely tired, no energy, blahhs, gained approx 30-40 pounds, get swollen hands, joint pain, loss of hair, extremely dry skin, dry eyes, mood changes, irregular period. It has gotten worse in the last three months, so I went to my dr. who has ran numerous tests. My first thyroid profile test was "low" normal (4.0). However my TSH presently is .28. He does not have the T3 or T4 results back yet. I really do not want to take synthetic medicine. Can Thyroid Throu help get me feeling better and help me loose this horrible weight. Please help. I have had moderate hyperthyroidism for one year now. My doctor has recommeded RAI, since I've developed severe leukopenia when taking PTU and Tapazole. I do want to do RAI, but feel there is little choice. I am interested in taking Thyroid-Throu. Since I cannot take these medications, will my symptoms such as rapid heart beat be allieviated quickly enough with Thyroid-Throu? Or does this also help with leukopenia? Thank you for your help!

Question :

I am 48 and have recently been diagnosed with Hypothyroidism. I think I have it for many years without knowing it.

I just decided to have blood tests done in April as a routine check up. Never had them done before.

Doctor said my thyroid function was 7 1/2 and TSH level 60. She said I was borderline and would like to do another test before putting me on a medicine for life.

I didn't want this so in May/June I went to a herbal/medical doctor who prescribed 400 mg kelp (iodine) for 5 weeks. Felt much worse during this time. This second doctor took blood tests and said thyroid reading now gone down to 5 1/2.

My family doctor rang to say she was concerned I hadn't returned for treatment. She did another blood test early July and found my thyroid was now 5 and my TSH had jumped to 300. She wants me to go on the medication immediately. I have actually bought it but dont want to take it as I believe you cannot get a true reading once on it.

Doctor says it is the auto immune version that I have. I also suffer from vitiligo for about 15 years. I'm afraid that I may become very ill if I dont go on the medicine yet I feel I would like to take natural medicine instead. Please advise. I don't want my health to suffer any further.

You should have suffered a lot if your TSH jump to 300! Did you take thyroxine (hormone replacement)? If you did how much you take per day?
